“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” (Gen 1:1)
“And God created the man in His own image; in the image of God He created him. He created them male and female.” (Gen 1:27)
“And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.” (Gen 2:16-17)
“And he said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded you that you should not eat?” (Gen 3:11)
“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” (Gen 3:15)
The Foundation of the Bible is enshrined in the first 3 Chapters of Genesis. Destroy these 3 chapters and you have destroyed the Bible. If the first 3 chapters are not taken seriously and as real but as a mythological story, then sin is not real and the coming of Christ is useless. For, in that case there is no need to render an account of our life to God as He also would not be real. Thus, in our illusion, we would be free from anyone over our lives. And this is exactly what Satan and heathens and Evolution would want us to believe. However, we must contend earnestly for the true Faith once for all delivered to the saints (Jud 1:3).
The Book of Genesis is the foundation on which the superstructure of the Scriptures rests. The foundation of the Bible is the first three chapters, which form in themselves a complete monograph of the revelation of God. Of the final superstructure the first three chapters are the foundational pillars.
God created the universes, doing a new thing, which ONLY He could do because He is the ONLY living Omnipotent Almighty God and the only One who can create anything out of nothing (ex-nihilo). God declares that He created matter and space, light, and life, indeed God created the Heavens and the Earth: (Gen 1:1,3,11,20,24,26). He created thrones, dominions, principalities, powers, authorities, mankind and ALL things only for His pleasure and purpose (Rev 4:11). Further, in the first chapters of the Book of Genesis, you have the strong and sufficient foundation of the sub-sequent developments of the kingdom of God; the root-germ of all Anthropology, Soteriology, Christology, Satanology, to say nothing of the ancient and modern problems of the mystery and culpability of sin, the unity of the race, and God's establishment of matrimony and family life, and functional relationship between male and female.
The beginning of Genesis, therefore, is a divinely inspired narrative of the events deemed necessary by God to establish the foundations for the Divine Law in the sphere of human life. It sets forth the relation between the omnipotent Creator and the man who fell; between God and His elect that were to be redeemed by the incarnation of His Son.
God gave a test of obedience to Adam (a real man) in Genesis. He put the Tree of knowledge of good and evil (not an apple tree) in the midst of a real garden, warning him not to eat from it, for if he did there would a heavy penalty “you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.” (Gen 2:17). But Eve (a real woman) whom God gave to Adam as his real wife ate the forbidden fruit and convinced Adam to do the same, thus committing the first sin of the human race.
God put the archangel Lucifer in Eden not as tempter but as “the anointed Cherub who covers.” But Lucifer rebelled against God (wanting to be like Him) and he hoodwinked Eve (1Ti 2:14) (1Ti 2:14) to sin by not following the command of God, but rather obeying fallen Lucifer.
God’s providential warning was true and death came to the whole of mankind as a result of their disobedience which is sin and sin is transgression of the Law of God (1Jo 3:4). God’s love restrained His swift vengeance, as He promised a Redeemer for humankind from the woman’s Seed. Thus Christ (the Messiah), the Saviour, had been predicted since Genesis 3:14,15 as a real man to save His elect from Hell.
God's promise of salvation or redemption is recorded in these first chapters (Genesis 3:15), as well as the doctrines of creation, imputation of sin, justification, atonement, depravity, wrath, grace, sovereignty, responsibility, and many more are all addressed in this "seed" Book called Genesis. Indeed Paul's argument in Rom 5:14-19 and 1Co 15:22,45 certainly requires a first real Adam to contrast with the last Adam. These passages in the NT confirm that Adam was a real person and that the coming of Christ was necessary to save His elect.
Sin broke the fellowship that God had with Adam in the Garden and after handing out the punishment to both Adam and Eve (still valid today) they were banished to this valley of tears suffering all the consequences of their sin. That is why we all are here today in our misery.
The coming of Christ was necessary to redeem God’s people from the sinful quagmire they fell into by their own evil volition, for there were no other way out, except the Holy Blood of Christ spilled on the cross for His own and this was to redress what happened in Genesis’ first 3 chapters.
Can you conceive of how much our sin in Genesis has costed God, for He had to have His only Son murdered by evil men on the cross (Act 2:23). Our sin against a thrice Holy God was infinite and only an infinite atonement could blot it out, only Jesus, the perfect Dio/man could provide the infinite redress needed. This essential knowledge of salvation is depicted in the first 3 chapters of Genesis
Therefore if we negate the first 3 chapters of Genesis, then the coming of Christ would have been unnecessary and useless, thus invalidating the Bible that is the Book of Christ and His blessed atonement for us humans according to God’s decrees.
Obliterate the first 3 chapters of Genesis and the Bible is also destroyed.
In these first 3 chapters of Genesis we have the doctrinal foundation of:
The unity of the human race.
Adam was not a myth, or a mythological name, not a derivation from a cosmic amoeba soup. He was a true man, created by God; not an evolutionary development from some hairy anthropoid from Africa. The Bible knows but one species of man, from one primitive real pair of human beings. This is confirmed by the Lord Jesus Christ in Mat 19:4. It is re-affirmed by Paul in Acts 17:26, and in Rom 5:12; 1Co 15:21,47,49. Nor is there any ground for supposing that the word Adam is used in a collective sense, and thus leave room for the hypotheses of the evolutionary development of a large number of human pairs. All things in both physiology and ethnology, as well as in the sciences, which bear on the subject, confirm the idea of the unity of the human race. The human race is one unit, easily proven by the fact that they can procreate other human beings, No matter the race.
The fall of man.
These chapters teach us that man was originally created for communion with God, and that his personality was entirely fitted for personal, intelligent fellowship with his Maker, and was united with Him in the bonds of love and knowledge. Every element of the Bible story recommends itself as a historic narrative. Placed in Eden by his God, with a work to do, and a trial-command, man was potentially perfect, but with the possibility of fall. Man fell by disobedience, and through the power of a supernatural deceiver called that old serpent, the devil and Satan, who from Genesis three to Revelation nineteen appears as the implacable enemy of the human race, and the head of those fallen angels which abandoned through the sin of pride their first principality.
This story is incomprehensible if only a myth. Still more incomprehensible is it, if it is merely an allegory which refers fruit, serpent, woman, tree, eating, etc., to entirely different things from those mentioned in the Bible. But it is treated as a real history by our Lord Jesus Christ, who surely would not mistake a myth for history, and by Paul in Romans five, and 1Corithinas fifteen as REAL and not as a cleverly composed fables. It is the only satisfactory explanation of the corruption of the race - as from Adam's time death has reigned on all humanity.
This story of the fall stands, moreover, as a barrier against Pelagianism (precursor to Arminianism) which declares that man is not that bad after all, and derides the doctrine of original sin which most Churches confess and distinctly declare that every single human being from birth is in possession of this sinful nature. The penalty and horror of sin, the corruption of our human nature, and the hopelessness of our sinful estate are things definitely set forth in the Holy Scripture, and the inspired Paul declares this fact of the incoming of sin and death through the disobedience and fall of Adam, as the original head of the human race, in these chapters putting our race is in a sinful condition. (Rom 5:12). Indeed our Lord said that a tree is known by its fruit and a corrupted tree (Adam) will bring forth only corrupted fruit (Luk 6:43,44). Thus every single one of Adam’s progeny is corrupted by sin.
This Genesis story furthermore is the foundation of the Scripture doctrine of all human responsibility, and accountability to God. A lowered anthropology always means a lowered theology, for if man was not a direct creation of God, if he was a mere indirect development, through slow and painful process, - of which no one knows what, or how, or why, or when, or where, the main spring of moral accountability is gone. The fatalistic conception of man's personal and moral life is the deadly gift of naturalistic Evolution preached in our age.
The project of redemption.
With regard to our redemption, the third chapter of Genesis is the basis of all Soteriology. If there was no fall, there was no condemnation, no separation and no need of reconciliation. If there was no need of reconciliation, there was no need of redemption; and if there was no need of redemption, the Incarnation was a superfluity, and the crucifixion folly. (Gal 3:21). So closely does the apostle link the fall of Adam and the death of Christ, that without Adam's fall theology is evacuated of its most salient feature, the atonement. If the first Adam was not made a living soul and fell; there was no reason for the work of the Second Man, the Lord from heaven, Jesus Christ. The rejection of the Genesis story as a myth definitely leads to the rejection of the Gospel of salvation. One of the chief corner stones of the Christian doctrine is removed, if the historical reality of Adam and Eve is abandoned, for the fall will ever remain as the starting point of special revelation, of salvation by grace, and of the need of personal regeneration. In it lies the germ of the entire Gospel.
We read in the Word of God this powerful exhortation directed towards us: “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write to you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write to you, and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints.” (Jude 1:3).
Contend earnestly for the Faith is also to safeguard the first 3 chapters of the Bible because if they go, so will the faith once delivered to the saints.
In these last few days that evil thing called Evolution (which is but a theory, paraded by all as truth) has its special aim to do away with God by providing an alternative to Him. It is Hell bent to discredit the first 3 chapters of Genesis as a myth, or a fairy tale. Interesting to note that also the Feminists have the same project in high priority.
We must stand firmly against that for they are bombarding the Foundation of the Gospel and if that is destroyed then the whole Biblical superstructure will fall also.
Be not fooled by oh so wise messengers of Satan that with mellifluous words are presenting Evolution as part of God’s plan, IT IS NOT, but vomit from the Pit. They are wolves in sheep clothes.
But fear not, for our Lord informed us that the gates of Hell will not prevail against His Holy Church (Mat 16:18).
