Modesty Pants Suits & Christian Women (58 KB) Misled by aggressive leaders of the various so-called women's liberation movements, the women of the world are being won over to the idea that the Biblical view of man being the head of the woman and family is all nonsense, invalid and absurd in this modem world.
Head coverings in Scripture (99 KB) Each of the following witnesses cited agree on one point: the headcovering mentioned in 1Co 11:4,5,6,7,10,13was a fabric headcovering to be worn by the women in worship. There may be differences amongst these witnesses as to the application of the headcovering, but they are uniformly in agreement that that Paul's reference to women being covered in worship was to a fabric headcovering and not to the hair of a woman.
Calvin on Head Coverings (86 KB) For it is all one as if she were shaven. He now maintains from other considerations, that it is unseemly for women to have their heads bare. Nature itself, says he, abhors it. To see a woman shaven is a spectacle that is disgusting and monstrous. Hence we infer that the woman has her hair given her for a covering. Should any one now object, that her hair is enough, as being a natural covering, Paul says that it is not for it is such a covering as requires another thing to be made use of for covering it. And hence a conjecture is drawn, with some appearance of probability — that women who had beautiful hair were accustomed to uncover their heads for the purpose of showing off their beauty. It is not, therefore, without good reason that Paul, as a remedy for this vice, sets before them the opposite idea — that they be regarded as remarkable for unseemliness, rather than for what is an incentive to lust.
What About Women Wearing Pants (69 KB) What does the Bible say about a saved woman wearing pants? Is it even an issue with God? Or is it merely a matter of preference or opinion to be left up to individuals to do what is right in their own eyes? Since we believe the Bible, more specifically, the King James Bible, to be the FINAL AUTHORITY (not tradition, opinions, or how one "feels"led), let's start there.
Woman fired for wearing Skirt (28 KB) A Pentecostal woman who says wearing pants is against her religion is suing to get her job back at an automotive plant where she says she was fired for wearing a dress to work.
Nakedness (58 KB) As social mores decline more and more toward Hedonism and moral degradation, we ought not to be surprised to see more and more nakedness. Pornography has now made it to the world-wide web. Sales of x-rated materials and movies are exceedingly popular. Purveyors of filth sell millions of their so called magazines to an insatiable public with a voracious appetite for more. One wonders what shocking sights lie ahead in a world that seems to be in a moral free fall.
Modest or Immodest Dress (33 KB) We live in an age that glorifies immodesty and immorality. On almost every commercial advertisement, whether it be on a billboard, television, or in a magazine, and regardless if the advertised product is food, clothing, perfume, or automobiles, the allurement is not the product itself, but men and women who are dressed immodestly.
Modesty: Biblical Investigation, Contemporary Application (46 KB) The subject of modesty is definitively addressed in the New Testament. The New Testament is authoritative, which authority has not diminished with the passing of the centuries. What the Bible says regarding modesty is binding on Christians today. Further, what the New Testament teaches about modesty is truth, which if violated constitutes sin.
Men's Apparel (49 KB) Not until the unisex look became fashionable has sodomy so greatly increased. Between 1968 and 1974 the number of serious offenses committed by women rose 54 %, while male offenses rose only 25%. In 1975, 1,026,000 divorces were granted to Americans. This was an increase of 6% over 1974. In 1975, 2,100,000 marriages were performed, down 4% from 1974. There was one divorce for every two marriages! In 1900 there was only one divorce for every 13 marriages in America. Today, 20 million American wives work outside the home, an increase of 100 % since 1955. In the 1960's runaway husbands outnumbered runaway wives 300 to 1. Today, runaway wives out numbers departed husbands nearly two to one!
The Christian Appearance (42 KB) The Christian is to take up his cross and follow Christ. Those who are born anew in Jesus Christ are new creatures in him and have "put off the old man with his deeds [and] put on the new man which is renewed in knowledge"(Col 3:9,10). Because of this change, they will no longer live by the world's life style. As Paul wrote, "Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God"(Rom 12:2). This is a central truth in the Christian knowing what the will of God is.
Christian Concepts of Dress (56 KB) Historically: WWII factories were the first time slacks started being worn by women. At the same time: short hair, cigarettes, swearing became acceptable feminine behavior. Now that path has come to Abortion, Divorce, Single Parent homes, extreme feminism: You’ve come a long way baby??
Bible Guidelines About Clothing (121 KB) Let’s make a clear difference between ourselves and the world. Let’s stand in the old paths. Those who are giving up high, plain standards of holiness in dress and are moving closer and closer to the fashions of the world should remember that the world is moving father and father from God’s Word.
Calvin's Commentary on Head Covering (38 KB) The woman is the glory of the man. There is no doubt that the woman is a distinguished ornament of the man; for it is a great honor that God has appointed her to the man as the partner of his life, and a helper to him, and has made her subject to him as the body is to the head. For what Solomon affirms as to a careful wife — that she is a crown to her husband, (Proverbs 12:4,) is true of the whole sex, if we look to the appointment of God, which Paul here commends, showing that the woman was created for this purpose — that she might be a distinguished ornament of the man.
Should Males wear a Beard? (39 KB) Let us follow our Master and Lord, Jesus Christ, and His way in obedience to His Father. Jesus had a full beard; He is our example of holiness, from the inside out. There was no mistaking Jesus for a woman in His day. Let there be no mistaking of us as men in ours.
Did Jesus wear Long Hair and Beard? (56 KB) No matter where you look, Jesus and His apostles are always portrayed as having long unkempt greasy hair. Filmmakers are always choosing e feminine man with long hair to portray the figure of Jesus and naturally people believe that, being mass brain washed. To be sure there are NO true pictures or sketches or descriptions on how Jesus looked like, thus these million of portraits of Jesus as ALL LIES, nothing else but fantastications of exalted artists. Furthermore ALL these presumed "true"portraits of the Lord go against the second commandment. Besides, that concept would make Scripture false for IT says: "Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame to him?"(1Co 11:14).BUT we know that Scripture cannot be broken (Joh 10:35), thus if Jesus had long hair that would have been a shameful thing to Him, and surely NO ONE is saying that there was anything shameful in Jesus, the Son of God; the perfect man.
