The 25th of December

aymon de albatrus
slave of Christ

“For the customs of the people [are] vanity. For one cuts a tree out of the forest with the axe, the work of the hands of the craftsman. They adorn it with silver and with gold; they fasten them with nails and hammers, so that it will not wobble.” (Jer 10:3-4 LIT)

To a TRUE Christian what matters the most is to be obedient to God and to His commands, absolutely without compromising. Of course we know just too well that it is impossible for human beings to obey perfectly, but at least the true Christian does his most to centre on the mark without finding excuses for his missing it or rationalising his poor performance.

A Christian that finds excuses for his compromising is NO Christian at all.

This is the WHOLE responsibility of man towards God and all: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man.” (Ecc 12:13 AV).  Indeed Christ clarifies this: “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (Joh 14:15 AV)

So clearly to love God is to obey Him the way He wants to be obeyed. An example of half obedience is seen with king Saul. Saul was ordered by God to utterly destroy the Amalekites (men, women, babies and their beasts) but he did not do exactly that, but he kept the best for himself for fear of the people. Let us see how king Saul responded when Samuel told him that he had sinned in not having killed all the Amalekites and beasts as God commanded him: And Saul said unto Samuel, I have sinned: for I have transgressed the commandment of the LORD, and thy words: because I feared the people, and obeyed their voice. (1 Samuel 15:24) and what Samuel responded to that: And Samuel said unto Saul, I will not return with thee: for thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD hath rejected thee from being king over Israel. (1 Samuel 15:26). See King Saul cared more for the people's opinion than for God's commands and acted on his own accord, not God's order, and for that he lost everything, including his own life.

He compromised and disobeyed God's order to please the people or at least avoided to upset them, thus he lost his kingdom and his life as well as that of his family. God cannot be mocked and must be obeyed fully: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Gal 6:7 AV)

God does not want ‘half obedience’ from us, He wants it 100%. Half obedience is NO obedience at all: “So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.” (Luk 14:33 ESV)

Now let us look at this pagan feasting of the 25th.

There is absolutely no doubt that the 25th of December is fully pagan from aeons ago, well before the Christian era, for example in ancient heathen Rome it was celebrated as Saturnalia. The Roman Catholics in trying to de-paganise this celebration (as they tried to do with many other pagan feastings, like Easter, Epiphany, Halloween  and etc) imposed a “Christianised” stamp on each of them and so they made the 25th as the birthday of Christ, which of course it was not (Christ was born between August to October). However people have a pagan bent in their hearts, and in time the 25th of December assumed the pagan practice it had at the beginning including more heathen symbols as the fir tree and the gifting to each other. In other words, today the 25th is a perfect pagan feast, as it was long ago, indeed even more so.

Interesting to note that in time all these "Christianized" feasts have reverted to their pagan origins.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO Biblical justification for celebrating the 25th as a Christian event, it is perfectly a PAGAN activity for it has nothing to do with Christ.

In these evil days some Christians are saying that we are to put Christ back into Christmas, BUT Christ was never there. Instead what we must do is to make sure Christ is removed from the 25th and let them (the pagans) have the Saturnalia for it is their feast NOT ours.

What is Biblical, and we must keep, is what Jesus told us to do, only two symbols: Baptism and the Communion. Baptism was to be had only once at conversion and Communion “as often as we do”. NO specific dates were given but left it to us to have the Communion as frequently as possible in remembrance of His sacrificial death on the cross (not His birth).

No other feast was asked of us, therefore participating in a non authorised feast in His name is nothing but high rebellion in making our own pagan feast for our own pleasure. In this respect we are no better than king Saul.

The giving of gifts to each other is also not sanctioned, if anything we ought to bring our gift of good works to Christ for having died on the cross in our stead to save our evil souls. The 25th purports to be a celebration of Christ's birth but in fact is the celebration of our own lusts. And here again more offence to God and to His Christ.

The Christians and the churches that celebrate the 25th of December are in great danger to one day have to give an account to God for compromising their faith with gross paganism.

Unconverted men and women do not want God, do not understand the things of God, cannot submit to God, nor do they want to: “But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1Co 2:14).  By definition they hate the things of God.  But fallen, unconverted men and women are absolutely gaga over Christmas celebrations.  It’s the only time when many of them ever darken the doors of the church, hypocrits.  Even those who don’t make some effort at church attendance at all, absolutely love it (try to remove it from then and see what will happen to you).  Indeed the whole world now celebrates the 25th. Even some Jewish now celebrate it. The most expensive Christmas tree in the world is in a hotel in Dubai (11 millions $), and CNN tells us that Santa and his elves are in all the shopping malls there.  The Japanese have taken to celebrating Christmas.  These people haven’t all turned to Christ, nor are they likely to (at least not as some by product of celebrating Christmas). The flesh just knows a good thing when it sees it, no matter what culture one happens to dwell in.  That fact, all by itself, should speak volumes. Shall real Christian celebrate this pagan feast with them?

In these days of decadence there are very many Christians (the majority) that fully appreciate and happily participate in these pagan activities and even have these heathen symbols in and out of their homes, even in the church, and so they have identified themselves with the world and have fully compromised their faith. Then there are true Christians that are in full knowledge of the pagan 25th, and yet they participate in these Saturnalia trappings bringing gifts for Odin under the satanic Odin tree. How can they possibly do that, knowing fully well that this is “loving the world” for this evil feast has been invented by pagans for pagans and the world loves it. If we participate in it and in its symbols, we are just like them and we are seen as them, surely this does not please God: “Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (1Jo 2:15 AV).

Why do they do that? The guess is “for fear of the Jews”, fear of the people, fear of being ostracized or made as “different”, or even worse, they really like it very much. Or even remembering when they were young the fun they had in these trappings and not wanting to ruin this pagan joy to their dear ones. Seemingly admirable sentiments, but what about God? Are not these people mixing Christ with Belial? Will God approve of their compromise? Methinks not.

These pagan activities are so deeply entrenched in our society that it is almost impossible to escape them. What can a Christian do to avoid being compromised with them and still keep relations with his own family? It is not easy. In many cases if the Christian is clear in his own beliefs without criticising others, he is normally accepted and relations kept (i.e. not seen as a hypocrite). BUT if it comes to a crunch, then Christ must prevail and if a break occurs, then .. so be it .. Christ is to be supreme in ALL things, for the promise is: “But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” (Mat 10:33 AV)

For a true Christian family with children the situation is difficult indeed for the children will be greatly influenced by the school, other children, TV, that satanic critter “Santa” and even the church to participate in it. Also what is more deadly are the toys and things other children will receive on the 25th and your kids, with nothing, will be terribly disappointed. The thing to do is to explain to them clearly the Christian situation and that the toys and gifts do not come from Santa but from God that blesses the family with enough income to buy them (do not tell them the Santa lie and thus teach them to lie in turn). Also give them their toys quite openly a few days before the 25th (so no association with it) and thus they will not feel as missing out. But better still, take them to the shop to choose what they want, and this will prove to them where the toys come from. Be quite specific with them, for children are not dumb but young adults, they will understand, and absolutely do not associate Santa with God, the two have nothing to do with each other. Also make quite sure you do not have in and out of your home the usual pagan paraphernalia of the 25th, indicating your home as pagan. Instead use that money to get better toys for your kids and maintain yourself pure in front of God, uncontaminated by the world.

Let every one do as it seems fit to them, for God is most magnanimous and great in forgiving, I will not condemn anybody, but for me and my house these pagan things are definitely OUT and I will openly testify so.
