December 25th Christian and Christmas (36 KB) We have nothing to say in this message to the world, nor to anyone who does not belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. Our appeal is to those who love Him and desire to please Him in all things. To such devoted persons we would like to point out some important facts about the holiday known in the world as "Christmas, "keeping in mind that the Word of God is the only true and sufficient guide for the child of God. (Read 2Ti 3:16-17)
Xmas by A W Pink (46 KB) Christmas is coming! Quite so; but what is "Christmas?" Does not the very term itself denote its source — "Christ-mass" Thus it is of Romish origin, brought over from Paganism. But, says someone, Christmas is the time when we commemorate the Saviour's birth. It is? And who authorised such commemoration? Certainly God did not.
Christmas Examined (50 KB) Dear child of God, we read in the Scriptures "Come now and let us reason together." This is what we would like to do now to the glory of God. That popular and worldly season of the year called Christmas will soon be upon us again. Multiplied millions will be spent on a boundless shopping spree. Under the pretence of religion saint and sinner alike will join hands in the celebration of that which is not only foreign to scripture but that which will lay waste to the soul and that which draws the name of our Lord into the filth of the world. This is a very serious thing!
Santa Claus (33 KB) "You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout. I'm telling you why; Santa Claus is coming to town. He's making a list and he's checking it twice; gonna find out whose naughty and nice. Santa Claus is coming to town. He sees you when you're sleeping; he knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness sakes. You better watch out. You better not cry. You better not pout. I'm telling you why; Santa Claus is coming to town."
Let's Keep Christ Out of Xmas (32 KB) It may come as a surprise to most, but Christmas has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. It does, however, have everything to do with the pagan Roman god Mithras, and with the false “Christ” of apostate Christendom and the Romanist Mass.
What Fellowship Hath Christ With Belial? (82 KB) The following discourse was presented as a sermon to the congregation of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church of Beaver Falls, PA on December 22, 1991. It was not an easy message to preach. It is never easy to re-examine practices and patterns of thinking that have been presumed and taken for granted for a lifetime. It is especially difficult when these practices are associated with intense emotional feelings and are bound up with deep-rooted family traditions. Such is the case with the subject of Christmas. To even call into question the annual celebration of the birthday of Jesus Christ is inconceivable for most modern Christians. That anyone would even suggest that Christmas and its festivities have no warrant in the Word of God and should therefore be dismissed from the practice of God's people seems the height of foolishness to our generation. The question which must be asked is, "Why?"
Holy Days of Men Holy Days of God (46 KB) In the Gospel according to Luke, we read these words: "That which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God."Luk 16:15These are the words of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. And please note their force: that which is placed by men in the highest category is placed by God in the lowest category possible.
Not "Holy" days (33 KB) The truth is that Christmas (and Good Friday, and Easter, and Father's Day, and Mother's Day, and Children's Day, and any other "special holy day "except the weekly Sabbath) is an abomination to God.
Our Traditions (33 KB) The truth is that Christmas (and Good Friday, and Easter, and Father's Day, and Mother's Day, and Children's Day, and any other "special holy day "except the weekly Sabbath) is an abomination to God. Now please note with care: we do not say that everything associated with these days is abominable. What we do say is that every special holy day (or season) is abominable to God.
25th December Paganus (43 KB) "There is no biblical warrant for special services connected with December 25th. Church meeting places should in general be simple and plain, without images or decorations. The pure preaching of the Word of God, the simple administration of the sacraments and the scriptural worship of God’s gathered people provide all the adornment needed for our assembly places. Faith comes by preaching, not by evergreen trees, colored lights, nativity pageants, or manger scenes with an idolatrous image of the Christ child."
The 25th (35 KB) The Christians and the churches that celebrate the 25th of December are in great danger to one day have to give an account to God for compromising their faith with gross paganism.
